Occupational Therapist – Certified Hand Therapist

Our client is seeking a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) for a rewarding career opportunity. Primary Responsibilities

  • Patient Care & Evaluation
  • Perform comprehensive evaluations for patients with physician referrals.
  • Accurately interpret evaluation findings and develop personalized treatment goals.
  • Design and implement an advanced occupational therapy treatment program.
  • Monitor patient progress, adjusting goals and care plans as necessary.
  • Use appropriate motivational and instructional techniques for patient/caregiver engagement.
  • Clinical Communication & Documentation
  • Communicate effectively with staff, patients, caregivers, physicians, and insurance companies.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
  • Manage time effectively to optimize workflow and patient care.
  • Supervision & Mentorship
  • Supervise assistants and support staff, ensuring safe and effective performance.
  • Serve as a mentor, clinical instructor, and resource to staff, students, hospitals, and schools.
  • Promote professional growth through research, advanced education, and organizational participation.
  • Program Development & Leadership
  • Identify and develop new departmental programs or revise existing ones as needed.
  • Assist in departmental planning, including budgets, policies, procedures, and strategic goals.
  • Initiate and oversee department projects.
  • Actively participate in facility-wide committees and task forces.
  • Lead departmental committees and provide strategic contributions.
  • Education & Community Engagement
  • Develop and present educational in-services, journal reviews, and training sessions.
  • Share expertise through clinic meetings, grand rounds, conferences, and university events.
  • Support community engagement by promoting best practices in therapy and patient care.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university-based program.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Current Occupational Therapy License from the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (required).
  • Advanced education or clinical certification (preferred).

Experience & Skills

  • Must be able to lift up to 75-100 pounds and carry up to 30 pounds occasionally/frequently.
  • Must be comfortable with prolonged standing, frequent walking, stooping, and squatting.
  • Strong fine hand dexterity and eye-hand coordination are essential.
  • Ability to receive and interpret oral and written communication clearly.
  • Must be able to monitor instruments, computers, and equipment, distinguish colors, and observe physical characteristics.
